12 students get Bijoy 71 Hall Provost Award

Twelve students of Dhaka University (DU) have received ‘Bijoy Ekattor Hall Provost’ award for their outstanding results in BSS and MSS examinations.         

University Vice Chancellor Prof Md. Akhtaruzzaman handed over the awards at a function held in the hall auditorium in the evening on Monday with hall provost Prof AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan in the chair.

Among others, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Chairman Major General (Retd) Helal Morshed Khan and Martyred intellectual’s daughter Dr Nuzhat Choudhury spoke on the occasion.

In his speech, DU VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman said, “Liberation War values (power) were secularism, humanism and moral values.”

“Dhaka University is practicing those values which were the winning strength in Liberation War in 1971,” he added.

The awardees are Sayed Muhammad Tawfiqul Hoque, Ahmedul Islam Hawlader, Fahad Munir, Abdullah Al Motin, Sayed Muhammad Muntasir Mohaimen, Saiful Islam, Latiful Khabir, Md. Mahibbullah, Shafiqul Islam, Sayed Shahzada AL Karim, Nazmul Hossain and Imran Hossain, They got one gold medal each. 

Besides, the students, who won in intra-hall annual sports, and literature competition events, also were awarded. A melodious cultural event was also was held where Baul songs were sung and drama was staged.
