16 DU students awarded Nurul Islam Memorial scholarship

16 students from various departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Md. Nurul Islam Memorial Trust Fund scholarship” for their outstanding academic results.

The awardees are Joya Roy, Md. Selim Rana, Tanjila Hossain, Gourab Chandra Roy, Amit Sarkar, Asif Ahmed, Md. Osman Gani, Obaidul Hoque, Mamunur Rashid Zahid, Md. Sumon Pradan, Md. Kamrul Islam, Fazle Rabbi, Suchita Sarkar, Md. Raminul Islam Rifat, Mirza Ashiq and Ishrat Jahan.

 Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor distributed scholarship among the students as chief guest on November 9, 2017 at the VC’s lounge of the university.

VC said, late Nurul Islam was the Founder President of DU Fourth Class Employees Union. He had dedicated his entire life to develop socio-economic condition of general people. The VC urged the brilliant students to make themselves worthy citizen by following the ideals of late Nurul Islam.

DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the function. Poet Ruby Rahman, Prof. Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman were also plesent there.
