2 abducted schoolgirls rescued in Dhaka

Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Sunday rescued two abducted schoolgirls, aged around 12, from Khilgaon area in Dhaka.
 
They also arrested two alleged kidnappers- Ripon Howladar alias Sumon, 30, son of late Nannu Hawlader, and Miraj Seikh 42, son of Habibur Rahman from village Umedpur in Pirojpur district- in this connection. ‘Earlier the duo was abducted from Barishal town’s Chahata area on November 14 on their way to school,’ said Mosharaf Hossain, BMP commissioner.
 
Later, Ripon and Miraj demanded ransom from the victims’ family members over phone. In cooperation with DMP, police rescued the schoolgirls and arrested the kidnappers from a rented house near Meradia Primary School in the capital city in the early morning, he added. 
 
‘The victims would be sent for medical test. After handing them over to family members, legal steps would be taken in this regard,’ said Abdur Rahaman Mukur, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station in Dhaka.
