2 schoolboys drown in Cumilla

Two schoolboys drowned in the Dharma Sagar pond in the city on Thursday (2 August).
 
The deceased were identified as Shihab, son of sub-inspector Abdul Mannan and a Class-IX student of Modern High School in the city, and Fahim. The details about Fahim could not be known immediately.
 
Witnesses said a group of 10-12 Class-IX students of Comilla Zila School and Modern High School went to the large water body for taking bath at noon.
 
At one stage, Shihab and Fahim drowned as they did not know how to swim.
 
Being informed, a firefighting team rushed in and rescued the duo.
 
They were taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead, said officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station Abu Salam Miah.
