3 SUST students get AF Mujibur Rahman gold medal

Three students of Mathematics department of University of Shahjalal Science and Technology (SUST) have received AF Mujibur Rahman gold medal for their brilliant results in honours and masters levels.

The awardees are Ratna Pal, honours student of 2011-2012 session, Amit Kumar Chakraborty, master’s level student (thesis group) of 2013-14 and Shahidul Islam, master’s student of the same session.

SUST Vice-chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed distributed the gold medals and certificates among the students at the university's Mini Auditorium on Tuesday.

The Vice-chancellor said the university is for the students and all the teachers should stand beside them. “All the teachers have the responsibility to make the students fit for the future and open new doors of knowledge for them.”

“This scholarship given by AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation will encourage the students to study more,” he said.

Mathematics department Head Prof Anwarul Islam presided over the meeting, while university Treasurer Ilias Uddin Biswas, dean of Physics department Ahmed Kabir, Student Welfare Adviser Rashed Talukder, executive director of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Chowdhury Muhammed Tayyub Tajammul, teachers and students of the department, among others, were present at the prize giving ceremony.
