4 JnU students ‘assaulted for protesting stalking’

Four students of Jagannath University were assaulted reportedly by some other students of the university for protesting an incident of “stalking a female student” by the latter on the campus this afternoon.

Some students of Islamic History and Culture department reportedly stalked the female student and made indecent gesture to her on the campus around 1:00pm, according to a written complaint submitted to the university vice chancellor.

They also “assaulted” four other students of the English department as they protested the incident, the statement reads.

In the complaint, singed by the students of English department, the victims urged the VC to ensure their security on the campus and demanded exemplary punishment of “attackers”.

The victims took primary treatment following the assault, reports our JnU correspondent.
