5,47,386 students drop out after registering for SSC exams

A total of 5,47,386 students dropped out after their registration for secondary final examinations 2019 under ten boards of education.

A total of 17,40,937 regular students along with 3,91,054 irregular students will sit for the Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations of 2019 beginning on February 2, said education minister Dipu Moni at a briefing at the ministry.

She also informed that a total of 22,88,323 students had registered for sitting for the examinations when they were promoted to class IX in 2017.

Among the total 21,35,333 SSC examinees in 2019 examinations, 10,70,441 are male and 10,64,892 female. Students from 28,682 institutions will sit for the examination at 3,497 examination centres across the country.

Comparing with 2018 examinations, the number of examinees increased by 1,03,434 under 10 education boards,  number of institutions increased by 131, number of examination centres increased by 85.
