Almost 77 per cent of the capital’s schoolchildren watch pornography, according to a survey of Manusher Jonno Foundation.

The survey also said that most of the people in these videos are aged under 18. Lack of proper sex education and such videos are making them perverts, it added.

The results of the survey was revealed at a press conference at the National Press Club in the city on Saturday.

Around 500 school students were questioned as part of the survey, said Abdullah Al Mamun, manager of MJF’s Child Safety Programme.

He said different countries of the world have restricted 200 words related to pornography. The server sends a notification if such words are used. The entry in such sites is restricted. Bangladesh also needs to take such steps, he added.

The survey of Manusher Jonno Foundation said the porn videos of personal relations are more watched than the commercial ones. The school and college students aged under 18 are seen in the videos.

Abdullah Al Mamun said national identity card (NID) is needed for SIM registration. That means SIM for a child is registered in the name of his or her parents. Parents also do not keep track of what their children are doing on the internet on their smartphones or tabs.

That’s why monitoring is needed, he observed.
