Body formed to probe Ruqayyah Hall corruption

Desk Report |

The Dhaka University authorities on Thursday formed a three-member committee to investigate into the corruption allegation in appointing cleaners and security guards at Ruqayyah Hall.

The body has been asked to submit their report within seven working days, said a press release.

On Tuesday, a group of students of the hall accused the hall authorities and hall union leaders of involving in ‘recruitment businesses’ in appointing cleaners and security guards.

They alleged that Ruqayyah Hall union vice president Ishrat Jahan, general secretary Sayma Promi and hall unit leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League had taken around Tk 21 lakh from three job candidates. The accused, however, denied the allegation.

They also alleged that hall provost Zeenat Huda was also involved in the corruption process.

Professor Zeenat Huda could not be reached for a comment over mobile phone, despite several attempts.
