BTV to air inter-varsity environment debate competition tomorrow

Bangladesh Television will broadcast the final round of the seventh inter-university debate competition on environment tomorrow (Wednesday).

The final round of the environment debate competition was held at Bangladesh Television Bhaban on July 10. Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad was present as moderator, a press release said today.

The Department of Environment (DoE), BUET Debating Club and Save the Children jointly organised the debate competition on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

In the final round, BUET Debating Club competed against Bangladesh Agricultural University Debating Club.

Judges were Dr Mizan R Khan (MRK), Professor of Department of Environmental Science and Management, North South University; Dr Md Samsul Alam, Professor of Department of Geography & Environment, Jahangirnagar University; and Quazi Sarwrad Imtiaz Hashmi, Additional Director General of DoE.

Earlier, BUET Debating Club competed against East West University Debating Club in the semifinals while Bangladesh Agriculture University battled against Dhaka University.

Students from 16 public and private universities took part in the competition, which began on May 14.

Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Chittagong University, Rajshahi University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, North South University and BRAC University, among others, participated in the competition.
