BU students continue protests

Desk Report |

Students of Barishal University continued their demonstration demanding removal of the university vice-chancellor SM Imamul Haque for the fifth day on Sunday.

They brought out a procession on the campus covering their faces with black cloth and held a rally to press for their demands.

Speakers at the rally said the vice-chancellor only gave issued a press note expressing regret but he has to appear before the students, offer apology and step down from the post. Until then, the students’ demonstration will continue, they said.

The students will submit a memorandum to the divisional commissioner on Monday to press home their demands, they announced.

The students began demonstration Wednesday after vice-chancellor Imamul Haque branded the students offspring of razakar.

In the face of student unrest, the vice-chancellor closed the university for indefinite period on Thursday.
