DCs for fixing educational standard for school, college committees

Staff Reporter |

Divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners have proposed to set educational standards for the chairmen and the members of management committees of non-government schools, madrasahs and colleges to ensure better educational atmosphere and recruitment at the institutions.

The proposal has been included among 349 proposals the divisional and deputy commissioners made for the three-day annual conference began today (Tuesday) in the capital.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the conference at her office.

In a bid to ensure standard of education, the divisional and deputy commissioners also suggested to introduce tough policies or guidelines to stop question paper leaking and copying at exam halls.

They also proposed to amend private coaching policy to stop coaching business by the teachers of schools and colleges.

In Bangladesh, educational institutions are established by private initiatives and later the government started giving salaries to teachers from exchequer only after application for it upon fulfillment of  some certain conditions.

The management committees have the authority to recruit teachers and employees at the non-government institutions. But anyone can become members of management committee members only if he or she is voted by the guardians of the students of respective institutions.
