Today is the 46th death anniversary of two Liberation War martyrs, Dr Azharul Haque and Dr Humayun Kabir.
Azhar, an assistant surgeon, and Humayun, an intern physician at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, were brutally killed on this day by the Al-Badrs for secretly providing treatment to wounded freedom fighters.
The Al-Badrs picked up the doctors from their residences in Hatirpool and murdered them after torture. Their bodies were recovered from a ditch near Notre Dame College the next day.
On the occasion, a Qurankhwani and a doa mahfil will be held at Azimpur old graveyard in the capital after Asr prayers today, said a press release.
