Demo held against stalking at BAU

Female students of Bangladesh Agricultural University have formed a human chain on the campus in Mymensingh, demanding that the authorities concerned should take immediate steps stop the miscreants who stalk girls at night in front of the female dormitories.

They formed the human chain under the banner of General Female Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University in front of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall on Sunday afternoon and demanded that the university authorities should to ensure their security on the campus.

While addressing the human chain, the demonstrators said that stalking in front of the female dormitories at night became serious problem for them.

BAU unit leaders and activists of Socialists Students’ Font expressed solidarity with the demonstrators.
Besides, BAU unit leaders and activists of Bangladesh Students’ Union also expressed solidarity with the demonstrators took signatures from 293 female students to press home their demand of enhancing securities of the female dormitories. 

BAU acting proctor Tanvir Rahman told New Age that some incidents stalking took place on the campus recently; but the university authorities took steps to check these incidents.

‘If anyone is found involved in stalking, stern action will be taken against him,’ he added.
BAU students’ affair adviser Professor Md Solaiman Ali Fakir said that steps would be taken to identify the perpetrators.
