Expansion of computer literacy stressed

Technical educationists at a workshop here today stressed on expanding of computer science literacy for taking forward the nation. They mentioned that the world has attained remarkable improvement with breakthrough of significant expansion and development of computer and automation.

They were addressing the inaugural session of a daylong workshop styled “OTECHIE How: Pathway for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Graduates” at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

Department of Computer Science and Engineering of RUET organized the workshop at its conference hall.

RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh and Dean of its Electrical and Computer Science Engineering Faculty Prof SM Razzaque addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with Prof Nazrul Islam Mondal in the chair. Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Abdul Alim and Department Head of CSE Prof Rabiul Islam also spoke.

Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh said widespread research and innovative practices are propelling throughout the world and Bangladesh.

As a whole, the digitisation process had already created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including outsourcing, selling products through e-shop and offering different services everywhere in the country. Prof Islam viewed that internet is the global networking system which connecting millions of computers. There is no alternative to expansion of the modern networking technology.
