Freelance teachers can run coaching class: HC

Desk Report |

The High Court said on Monday that teachers who were not affiliated with any public and private educational institute could run coaching classes in the country.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil said this while passing an observation on its February 7 order, which upheld the government policy to stop ‘coaching business’ run by the teachers of government and private educational institutions.

‘Only those who are running coaching classes as freelancers or are not employed by any public and private educational institutes can carry out their job as usual,’ the Anti-Corruption Commission counsel Khurshid Alam Khan told journalists.

‘I appeared before the court in another case. The court at that time told me that it had come to take into account two talk shows where I had taken part in discussions regarding coaching classes. The court wanted clear its explanation regarding running of coaching class,’ Khan said.

The same High Court bench passed an order on February 7 declaring the government policy formulated in 2012 to stop coaching business at all the government and private educational institutions as valid.
