Govt makes education accessible to all: Maya

Desk Report |

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya has said education has been made accessible to all the general students through nationalising schools and colleges at upazila level.

“Now, no student would stop study for want of money as the government implemented the visionary initiative of nationalising schools and colleges at upazila level,” he told a rally on Sunday after unveiling a plaque at Chhengarchar College here, marking the nationalisation of the college.

Due to the government’s pragmatic measures, Maya said, education rate and quality have increased at grassroots level, according to a press release issued today.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had taken the initiative of nationalising educational institutions for the first time, the minister said, adding that Bangabandhu first ever nationalised primary education to eradicate illiteracy from the country.

Later, he (Bangabandhu) started nationalisation of schools and colleges gradually, Maya said.

Local political leaders and government officials as well as teachers, students and guardian were present at the function.
