State minister for technical and madrassah education division Kazi Keramat Ali on Monday (12 February) said that the government would drop multiple choice questions in phases from public exams in order to prevent question leak.

Kazi Keramat Ali, while participating in thanks giving motion on the president’s speech in parliament, also said that a vested quarter was leaking questions of ongoing Secondary School Certificate examinations to embarrass the government.

‘There will be no opportunity to leak question paper if MCQ is dropped in the examination. Therefore, MCQ will be dropped in phases in the public examination,’ Keramat Ali said.

He said that that law enforcement agencies already arrested some of those involved in the question paper leak.

Jatiya Party lawmaker Nurul Islam Milon told parliament that question paper leak in the ongoing SSC exam has gone out of control of the government.

‘Question paper leakage in the SSC examination has become a normal matter. I think honest, bold and active persons are not there in the offices responsible to prevent question leakage.’

‘Education board has become the breeding centre of corruption. They have failed to control the question leak. The government should appoint honest and active persons there,’ he said adding, ‘coaching centre should be shut down permanently.

Keramat and Nurul made the comments when widespread allegations of question leak surfaced prior to each and every SSC exam so far held.

Guardians said that question of Bangla first paper exam on February 1, Bangla second paper on February 3, English first paper on February 5, English second paper on February 07, religion and moral studies on February 8, mathematics on February 10 and information and communication education on February 11 were posted at different social media sites well ahead of exams which matched the actual question paper given to examinees at the halls.

The government on Monday banned cell phone in and around exam centre added to education ministry’s series of arrangements to prevent question leak, which included closure of coaching centres during exams.

The education ministry announced a bounty of Tk 5 lakh for any help leading to the arrest of the people involved in question leak.
