Intl Conference on Computer, Communication begins at RU

A two-day International Conference on Computer, Communication, Chemical, Material and Electronic Engineering began at Rajshahi University (RU) here on Thursday on (9 Feb).

Engineering Faculty of RU organized the conference in order to provide a unique opportunity for the science and technology professionals, scientists, engineers, educators, researchers and students from all over the world to exchange their scientific ideas, views and thoughts with fellow researchers and participants.

It will address some of the more relevant and state-of-the-art issues and topics involved in the mentioned fields.

Besides, it aims at promoting entrepreneurship, leadership and research aptitude among the students to contribute to the economic wellbeing and technological developments of the country.

RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the event at Senate Building as the chief guest with engineering faculty dean Prof Mamun Ur Rashid Khandaker in the chair.

Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg, Professor Shelia Shahnaz from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Professor Shamim Ahmed from Department of Computer Science and Engineering also spoke on the occasion.

More than 200 teachers, researchers, students and professionals concerned from both home and abroad are taking part in the conference. They will present around 400 papers in various technical sessions.

Prof Abdus Sobhan said engineering education and research cannot be separated.

For the development of science and technology in global perspective, he said we are trying to establish industry oriented research labs where students will be able to put in their knowledge for innovations in critical areas of science and technology.

He expected the conference will cover areas like energy engineering, signal and image processing, communications and networking, information system, computer and control.
