A deputy registrar of Islamic University in Kushita on Wednesday assaulted a professor of Islamic history and culture department at the university over previous enmity. The victim is Emtaz Hossain, a professor of the department.
Witnesses said a group of three persons led by deputy registrar Manjar-Alalam Miru went to the house at teachers’ dormitory 1 on the campus and knocked its door. Manjar attacked Emtaz as he opened the door leaving him injured on the spot.
Later, other neighboring teachers at the dormitory came rushed in and took Emtaz to the university’s central hospital. A case was filed against Miru in this regard with IU police station, IU police officer-in-charge Ratan Sheikh said. The incident might be happened over their previous enmity, he added.
The university vice-chancellor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari told New Age that they had suspended the official for such criminal activities and asked the police to take appropriate action against him.
