Miscreants attempt to torch Ekushey Book Fair stall

Unidentified miscreants have tried to torch a book stall at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair.

The book stall did not face much damage as fire service personnel soon arrived at the scene and doused the flame Monday evening.

“They had set fire to a heap of paper behind the stall. We smelled petrol,” said ‘Prasenjeet’, a salesman at the stall.

He informed that police has detected two men from CCTV footage and one of them had a beard.

Jalal Ahmed, a member of the fair’s organising committee, said police were trying to identify the two men.

“They’re investigating. They assured us that these two be caught,” Jalal said.
