Mostafizur for....Primary and Mass Education Minister Mohammad Mostafijur Rahman, MP, yesterday said the authorities concerned should ensure proper caring and opportunity to flourish the latent and inner potentialities of school students.

“Many talented children are being deprived of getting proper chance to flourish their hidden potentialities at grassroots level . . . We must make room for them as they can bring glory for the country,” he said while inaugurating ‘Bangabandhu Gold Cup and Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament 2015’ at Dhaka University Playground.

The minister said the athletics, along with the academic curriculum, can play a very significant role to improve children’s moral courage, tolerance, mutual respect and sound mindset.

“The present government introduced Bangabandhu Gold Cup tournament for boys and Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup tournament for girls of countrywide primary schools only to attract the students in sports,” he said.

Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Mohammad Humayun Khaled, Director General of Primary Education Directorate Mohammad Alamgir, additional secretary of the ministry Nazrul Islam Khan and high officials were present on the occasion.

A total of 14 teams of 14 primary schools in seven divisions are vying for the trophy this year.

The football tournaments will be continued till February 15 on the Dhaka University playground while the final matches both boys and girls will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Feb 16.
