Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said that action would be taken against the responsible people for charging extra fees from students for appearing in Secondary School Certificate examinations.
He asked the schools to refund the extra fees if they had taken it already, said a press release issued by the ministry. During a meeting with some representatives of teachers at the secretariat, the minister also ordered to stop this practice. SSC candidates and their parents of different schools across the country, including the capital, alleged that the school authorities were charging extra fees from them.
The minister directed the concerned officials to take necessary steps against the educational institutions involved in the act defying government policy.
