PM to address NU education assembly on October 12

An education assembly of National University (NU) will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on October 12 with the theme ‘We will build the country with education’.

NU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Harun-Or-Rashid disclosed this today at a press conference at the university’s city office at Dhanmondi, said a NU press release. The VC informed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the assembly as chief guest.

In the press conference, Professor Harun also declared the results of the College Performance Ranking where seven colleges from across the country have secured the highest score in the ranking, the release added.

The colleges are: Rajshahi College, Government Edward College, Government Carmichael College, Government BM College, Government Azizul Haque College, Dhaka Commerce College and Siddheswari Girls’ College.

The premier will inaugurate a project of the university, lay foundation stones of 10 structures and distribute the prizes and certificates among the colleges in the function, Professor Harun said.

Principals form more than 20,000 colleges affiliated to the university across the country will join the function, he added.

According to the release, the NU vice-chancellor said university authorities have taken various programmes to celebrate its silver jubilee on October 21.

The programmes include bringing out a jubilant procession at all colleges across the country under an identical banner and holding discussions and cultural functions.

NU Pro-VC (academic) Professor Hafiz Md Hasan Babu, Pro-VC (administration) Professor Mashiur Rahman and Treasurer Professor Noman Ur Rashid were present at press conference.
