Police ‘detain’ youth in leaked audio of conversation with ‘Amir Khosru’

Police in Cumilla have reportedly detained Minhanur Rahman Naomi who was allegedly heard being asked by BNP leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury to join student protests with his associates in a leaked phone conversation.   

 ward councilor of Cumilla City Corporation told that, Plainclothesmen posing as members of Detective Branch of police detained Minhanur at a relative’s home at Barura Upazila in the wee hours of Sunday, his father Siddiqur Rahman Suruj, The name of Minhanur, who studied law in the UK, was being discussed after a leaked audio of a phone conversation purportedly between him and Amir Khosru went viral.

Cumilla District Superintendent of Police Shah Abid Hossain and DB OC Nasir Uddin Mridha could not confirm Minahunur’s reported detention.  

The person alleged to be Amir Khosru was heard spurring the youth to join forces with the student protesters in Dhaka for the campaign for safe roads. 

Amir Khosru has dismissed the audio as fabricated.
