Rokeya University observes 10th founding anniversary

Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today observed its tenth founding anniversary through daylong colourful programmes amid festivity and fanfare.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah formally inaugurated the day-long programmes by hoisting national flag amid singing of the national anthem at 9 am on
the campus.

At the same time, deans of six faculties and heads of 21 departments hoisted the university’s flag and flags of different faculties and departments of the university.

Later, the Vice-chancellor placed wreaths at the portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and great woman Begum Rokeya before delivering his welcome speech.

Kalimullah also released pigeons, took salute of a smart contingent of members of BNCC, rovers and scouts and led a huge colourful ‘Ananda Shobhayatra’ that paraded the campus. He also planted a sapling of tree in the campus.

Deans of all six faculties, heads of all 21 departments, teaches, thousands of students, officials and employees of the university participated in the ‘Ananda Shobhayatra’ and
other programmes.

Later, the teachers and students of BRUR participated in the Academic Fair and cost-free blood group test programmes on the campus.

A milad mahfil followed by offering special munajats were held after Juma prayer at the Central Mosque of the university.

The Vice-chancellor inaugurated the University Club for teachers and officials at the Central Cafeteria on the campus followed by a discussion there.

Mazharul Anwar.

The Vice-chancellor said Begum Rokeya University has already become a gathering centre for brotherhood, friendship and harmony of teachers and students, officials and employees
of the university.

“Education along with co-education programmes are getting newer heights turning the university into a higher seat of learning, research, nurturing culture, sports and education
across the region and country,” he said.

At the end, a cultural function followed by musical concert participated by popular band parties were arranged on the campus.
