SC asks for syllabus, exam module of teacher training colleges

Staff Correspondent |

HCThe Supreme Court today directed the government to submit the syllabus and examination module of all the teachers training colleges in the country to the court in two weeks.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order during hearing and appeal filed by the government against a High Court order.

The HC in July 2013 ruled that an education ministry circular which had said the teachers have to take Bachelor of Education (BEd) training course from the government training colleges curtailed the rights of non-government ones.

The education ministry filed the appeal with the SC against the HC verdict.

On May 15, 2008, the education ministry issued the circular saying that the teachers have to take BEd training course from the government teachers training colleges.

Then the non-government teachers training colleges filed the writ petition with the HC challenging the legality of the circular.
