Schedule for DUCSU polls likely this week

Desk Report |

The complete schedule for election to the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union is likely to be announced by this week. An election preparatory meeting chaired by vice-chancellor Akhtaruzzaman made the decision on Tuesday, said pro-VC Muhammad Samad.

The authorities, however, once again rejected student organisations’ demand for setting up polling centres outside the halls, occupied and rigorously controlled by ruling party-backed student organisations for at least last thirty years.

Earlier, the university authorities appointed international business department professor SM Mahfuzur Rahman as chief returning officer and formed a 15-member Advisory Council for the polls.
