Schoolboy killed as wood falls on him

A schoolboy was killed as a piece of wood of an under-construction building fell on him in Chirirbandar upazila of the district on yesterday.

The deceased was Rubayet Jamil Plaban, 13, a Class IX student of Ideal Residential School in the upazila, and son of Emdadul Haque of Birampur upazila.   He was a resident student of the school.

Police said the boy along with his classmates was playing near an under-construction building of the school in the afternoon. Suddenly, a piece of wood from the six-storied under-construction building fell on head, leaving Plaban seriously injured.

He later died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Obaidur Rahman, acting headmaster of the school.
