Police recovered the decomposed body of a schoolboy, killed allegedly by brothers-in-law, from Madhupur forest on Saturday night.
Earlier on January 12, police arrested three people including two brothers-in-law of the boy in this connection.
The victim, Jewel Rana, 14, only son of Hasan Ali of Mohishmara village, reads in Class VIII at a private school in Dhaka, staying at the house of his third brother-in-law Obaidul Haque, family members said.
He recently came home and his brother-in-law Azam took him from the house on January 11, saying that he will teach the boy how to drive motorcycle.
But Jewel did not return as of next day while Azam claimed that he had sent him back to the house after teaching driving.
Jewel’s uncle Mozaffar Hossain lodged a general diary with Madhupur Police Station in this regard that day and Sub-Inspector Abdul Hakim of the police station detained Jewel’s two brothers-in-law (first and second) — Azmat Ali, 30, of Phulbaria in Mymensingh, and Azam Ali, 28, of Mohishmara in Madhupur, and Azam’s nephew Nazrul Islam, 27, the same night, police said.
Following information from the three people, police recovered Jewel’s decomposed body hanging from a gajari tree at Beribaid area of Madhupur forest on Saturday night and sent it to Tangail Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, they added.
During preliminary interrogation, the three detainees told the police that the brothers-in-law conspired to kill Jewel for misappropriating the properties that the boy would get from his father as his only son, said Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Madhupur Police Station.
The victim’s father filed a case against the three detainees with the police station yesterday in this regard and police started investigation, he added.
