The DMP commissioner gave the directive to the officers-in charge (OCs) of all the police stations in the capital through a wireless message.

Wishing anonymity, an OC told that they have been asked to bring the situation under control by convincing the students about sufferings people going through because of their frequent road blockades.

“We’ve been given directives to exercise restrain while the students on the streets,” the OC added.

He said they have also been directed to remain alert about their personal security during the patrol, and not to move to any area in empty vehicles.

Students from different schools and colleges took to the streets for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday demanding punishment of the driver responsible for Sunday’s accident that killed two college students in the city and resignation of the Shipping Minister for his comments on the accident.
