Women should be enriched with technical education

Speakers at a meeting here on Sunday called upon the women to come forward to participate in technical and vocational education without any hesitation for taking the country forward.

They said technical, vocational education and training among the women is very important for achieving the national development.

The speakers made this observation while addressing the inaugural session of a daylong meeting on ‘skill competition- 2017’ held at Rajshahi Women Technical Training Centre (RWTTC) here on Sunday.

President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Muniruzzaman addressed the meeting as chief guest with RWTTC Principal Nazmul Haque in the chair.

Local unit President of Bangladesh Women Chamber Munira Matin and its general Secretary Morium Khatun, Managing Director of SN Fashion Nilufar Yeasmi and Assistant Director of Labour and Manpower Office Abdul Hannan also spoke.

Muniruzzaman viewed technical education could be effective means of building competent and skilled human resources. It would be vital for substantial and sustainable growth of national economy.

He said need-based vocational training for the female youths of poor families is very important. At the same time, post-training employment can eradicate unemployment problem.

“We have no way but to generate more technically and technologically sound women to meet up the social demands as it is being increased gradually,” he mentioned.

The entrepreneurs should come forward towards establishing small and medium industries in the region to create employment opportunities for regional development, he added.

Muniruzzaman also underscored the need for quality improvement of training for substantial and sustainable boosting the number of women entrepreneurship.
