A court here on Sunday convicted three people and sentenced them to death for killing a college student in 2011.
The condemned convicts are Imran Hossain, Nasim Biswashand Manirul Islam Mukul. Of them, Mukul was tried in absentia. The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each.
According to the prosecution, Imran Hossain, a student of Jhenaidah college and a resident of Laudia village in Sadar upazila, was found dead at Sikarpur village on October 22, 2011.
Nazrul Islam, father of Imran filed a case with Sadar Police Station. After investigation, police submitted chargesheet against four people on June 23, 2012.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge GolamAzam handed down the verdict acquitting one accused as allegation brought against him could not be proved.
