Authorities support rising number of creative questions

Staff Correspondent |

In response to protests by some students against the rising number of creative questions in SSC and HSC tests, the authorities say the move aims to stop question paper leak.

The inter-educational board also thinks the students ‘misapprehended’ the new time allocation.

The protesting students say they will have to answer seven creative questions instead of six from now but the time for the section has not been extended from two hours and 10 minutes.

The authorities, however, say the students will get two and a half hours to answer the creative questions.

Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee Chairman Mahbubur Rahman said, “The students claimed the time was not extended though the number of questions have been raised.”

He also said earlier some students had come to the hall after 10 to 15 minutes later from the start of the tests because they had been receiving multiple-choice questions from some teachers in the hall.

Now the scope of delay has been reduced after the number of MCQ has been dropped from 40 to 30 in as many minutes, Rahman added.

The protesters blocked streets in Dhaka and also demonstrated in Chittagong on Saturday in protest against the new system. They also demonstrated on Sunday.
