DU Question Leak: Arrest warrant issued against 78

A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrant against 78 fugitives including 41 students of Dhaka University in a case filed over their alleged involvement in question leak.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary passed the order as Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of CID Sumon Kumar Das, also the investigation officer of the case, sought arrest warrant against them.

The court also asked the officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station to submit a report on execution of arrest warrants by July 30.

On June 23, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted the charge sheet against 125 people including 87 DU students in a case under the Public Examinations Law and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

The case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station on October 20, 2017 for cheating and leaking question paper of DU “Gha” unit admission test.

Earlier, CID arrested 47 of the 125 accused. Most of the arrestees are now on bail. The 78 others accused remain absconding.
