DU terminates 3 teachers for irregularities

The Dhaka University authorities on Wednesday terminated three teachers on charge of irregularities. The decision was taken at the syndicate meeting on Wednesday with Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, said Prof DASM Maksud Kamal, president of Dhaka University Teachers Association and a member of the syndicate.

Among the teachers, Lecturer Biplab Kumar Datta of Department of Development  Studies and Lecturer Obhishek Zaman of Gene Engineering and Biotechnology department, were fired for not joining their departments following their leave. They were also asked to return the financial benefits they had taken from the university, he said.

Besides, Muhammad Azher Zafer Shah, assistant professor of International Relations, was sacked for his absence in academic activities, he added.
