The executive committee of the national economic council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved the ‘College Education Development Project’ involving Tk 1040 crore in a bid to create greater opportunities for higher education through admission of more male and female students.

The approval came from the weekly ECNEC meeting of the outgoing fiscal year held at the NEC conference room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area with ECNEC chairperson and prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

“Of the total project cost, Tk 3,806.6 crore will come from the national exchequer while the rest of Tk 800 crore as project assistance,” he said.
