Govt orders to close all Peace schools

The government on Tuesday (August 2) issued an order to close the Peace schools in the country. Earlier on 10 July, the government also shut down telecast of Peace TV Bangla, a satellite channel which used to broadcast the speeches of Zakir Naik in Bengali.

With the growing popularity of Indian ‘Islamic scholar’ Zakir Naik’s Peace TV, a section of people in Bangladesh set up schools by the name of ‘peace school’ across the country.

Education ministry asked the home ministry to take appropriate reactions in this regard.

Besides, the ministry asked the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka to cancel the teaching permission of Peace School and College in city.
