IU section officer suspended over bribe scam

The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia suspended one of its section officers from the university temporarily over taking bribe from a student of the university, IU registrar office officials said on Thursday morning.

The suspended was identified as Moktar Hossain, a section officer of IU controller of examinations section.

IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told New Age that the university vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari issued the suspension order against Moktar as the university authorities, in a primary investigation, found his involvement of taking bribe from, Niyamul Kabir, a student of finance and banking department of the university.

The university authorities also formed a three-member probe body, headed by IU English department Professor M Maher Ali, also the director of IIEER, to investigate in to the matter.

The probe body was asked to submit its report within seven working days, he added.

IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said that they would take legal action against the official after getting reports from the probe body.

Earlier, the student submitted a written complaint to IU controller of examinations, AK Azad Lavlu, seeking punishment of the officer.
