IU Teacher-Student’s Demo to Protest Priest Killing

IUTeachers and students of Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council at Islamic University (IU), Kushtia formed a human chain yesterday.

They formed the human chain protesting the killing of a priest through attacking in the Sri Shanto Goswami Gaudiya Shrine in Panchagarh. In the meantime, they also protest the attempt to kill two other devotees of the shrine.

However, criminals slit the throat of a Hindu Priest at a temple in Debiganj of Panchagarh just after dawn on February 21, 2016 and fled the scene firing shots and exploding homemade bombs, which injured two devotees.

Deceased Jogeswar Dasadhikari, 50, is the latest victim of a recent string of attacks on clerics and prayer houses of minorities in Bangladesh over the last few months.

Protesting that killing, several teachers and students of Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council at Islamic University (IU), Kushtia formed a human chain in front of the administration building yesterday. More than one hundred teachers, students, officials and employees of various departments of IU participated in the protest.

President of Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council Dr. Arvind Shaha, Tapan Kumar Joyaddar, Pradeep Kumar Adhikari, Liton Barman, Jayashree Sen, Bappa Sarker and nearly one hundred students were present at the demonstration.
