MoU between DU and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan is signed on Thrusday (February 13) at the VC’s office of the university.

Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman and President of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Prof. Hirotaka  Tateishi signed the MoU on behalf of their respective university.

Director of the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of DU Prof. Dr. Shishir Bhattacharja, Teacher In-Charge of Japanese Language and Culture Program of IML Dr Mohammed Ansarul Alam, Professor of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan Dr. Naonori Kusakabe and Fund Rising Coordinator of Shapla Neer, a Japanese organization in Dhaka Ayako Inose were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on Bengali Language as well as Japanese Language between the University of Dhaka and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan.

The Department of Bangla has already been introduced at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan in 2012, the Japanese Professor informed. He sought cooperation from DU authorities for strengthening ongoing honors course on Bengali Language being conducted by this Japanese university.

According to the MoU, the two universities will exchange teachers and students as well as conduct joint research activities.

DU VC assured the Japanese Professor of providing all possible support and cooperation in this regard.

Earlier, Japanese Professor Dr. Naonori Kusakabe called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office of the university.
