MPO enlistment after scrutiny: Nahid

Staff Reporter |

Educational institutions will be brought under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme after scrutiny, said Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Wednesday.

“The scrutiny is going on following a directive of the government, especially the Prime Minister. It’ll also be done at the field level. The process will continue,” he said. The minister came up with the remarks after a meeting with the leaders of teachers’ organisations at the secretariat.

He said over 9,000 educational institutions have submitted applications seeking enlistment of their institutions under the MPO scheme.

“Now new institutions will be brought under the MPO system. Non-MPO institutions were asked to submit applications online. A total 9,498 institutions have submitted their applications online,” he said.

The teachers highlighted various problems of their fellows in private educational institutions and sought government support to resolve those.  The Education Minister assured them of solving their problems in phases.
