`Pry textbooks to be send to all upazilas by Dec 25’

faviconAbout 70 per cent textbooks for primary students have already reached to the upazilas and the rest will reach to all upazilas across the country by December 25, according to officials of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

Professor Narayan Chanda Pal, chairman of NCTB, told dainikshiksha.com that the government will distribute 33 crore, forty-five lakhs, eighteen thousand and 11 books free of cost this year at primary and secondary level.

However, 21 crore, ninety-two lakhs, two thousand and five hundred eighteen books out of 33.46 crore for secondary, Ibtedaye and Dhakil level have already reached in all districts, upazillas and Thana levels while 10 crore, eighty-seven lakhs, forty thousands and eleven books will be distributed among primary students.

But 70 per cent books for primary level reached to respective destinations till to date and rest of books will reach by Dec 25.

`We will be able to handover new books among primary and secondary-level students by January 2 next by holding ‘book festival’, he said adding, “The board officials keeping close contact to all respective printing presses to reach textbooks at upazilla levels for 2016 education year within the stipulated time.”

Proprietors of Bright and Ananda Printing presses M Mohsin and M Robbani Zabbar respectively said that they would try their level best to reach the textbooks within the time fixed by the NCTB. They said they are working hard in this respect as the prime minister is expected to handover the book formally by December 31.

The NCTB and district and upazila education offices are working round-the-clock to make the plan a success.
