Around 15,000 unemployed youths have been turned into skilled human workforce by Rangpur Technical Training Centre (TTC) on 22 courses under eight trades since its inception in 2008.
About 10,000 of the trained youths have so far been employed at different local and foreign industries, factories, offices and enterprises and 6,453 of them, including 2,153 female youths, are working abroad in seventeen countries.
The information was disclosed at the inaugural function of a five-day training course on ‘Video Editing and Support for Office Management’ organised by Rangpur TTC at its conference room followed by a job trade fair on Saturday, a press release said today.
The Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and UK-based awarding organisation for work-based qualifications ‘City and Guilds’ is extending assistance in organising the course.
The STEP Project Director and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment ABM Azad attended the inaugural function as chief guest with Principal of Rangpur TTC Engineer Md Lutfar Rahman in the chair.
Deputy Project Director of the STEP Abdur Rahman and Deputy General Manager of the Standard Group SM Ashraful Islam were present as special guests.
Fifty students and trainers of Rangpur TTC are participating in the training course that will conclude on August 16 next with intermission on August 15.
Engineer Rahman said around 17,000 youths were admitted at Rangpur TTC since 2008 and some 15,000 of them already completed trainings on various courses.
“About 2,000 male and female youths are undergoing training at Rangpur TTC where language courses in Japanese, Arabic, English and Korean are also being conducted in addition to technical and vocational trainings,” Rahman said.
“On completion of training courses at Rangpur TTC, many local employing industries, factories and organisations are directly appointing the trained workforce and overseas employment recruiting agencies appointing them in foreign countries,” he said.
Highly lauding the performance of Rangpur TTC, the chief guest suggested the trainees to attend the training course sincerely and acquire knowledge and skill to properly utilise those while serving both at home and aboard, said a BSS report.
Later, Standard Group, Pran-RFL Group, Beximco Communications and Anwara Sweater directly recruited 81 male and female youths, including Welders, Garments Workers and Electricians trained at Rangpur TCC in the job trade fair.
