School teacher among 2 killed in road accidents

Two people, including a school teacher, were killed in separate road accidents in Bogura and Jashore on Sunday night and Monday. In Bogura, a school teacher was killed as a battery run vehicle turned turtle at Mathpara in Shibganj early Monday, reports our correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Afaj Uddin, 55, an assistant teacher of Rampur Bhalunza Government Primary School at Majhihat of Shibganj.

 

Majhihat union parishad chairman Mirza Golam Hafiz said that Afaz Uddin was going home from local bazar at Chilahat on Sunday evening. On his way home, the vehicle, he was travelling, turned turtle as the driver of the vehicle lost control over the steering at Mathpara, leaving Afaz critically injured.

He was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bougra, where he died early Monday.
In Jasohre, an unidentified driver of a goods-laden truck burnt to death at Cheugutia in Nowapara industrial town on Sunday night in a head-on collision with another truck, reports our correspondent.

Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nowapara Highway Police, said that the driver died on the spot as two trucks collided head-on causing a fire at Cheugutia.

Later, fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire and the driver’s charred body was recovered from the wreckages.
