Schoolboy killed as building collapses in Narayanganj

A schoolboy was killed and another injured after a three-storey building collapsed in Narayanganj city this afternoon.

The deceased, Shoain Hossain, 10, was a class-VI student, said Afroza Hasan Diba, a councillor of Narayanganj City Corporation.

One of the residents of the building might have trapped inside the building in Baburail area, said Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Fatullah Police Station.

Abdullah Arefin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Narayanganj, said the building suddenly collapsed on a canal adjacent to the building around 4:00pm.

On information, a team of firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued four people from the building, he told our Narayanganj correspondent.

One of them, who sustained injuries, was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he added.
