Schoolgirl killed in road accident; Driver, assistant beaten up by mob

A schoolgirl was crushed under the wheels of a truck in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira on Tuesday (14 August) morning.

Deceased Tithi Shornoker, 13, was the daughter of Parimal Sharnoker, a resident of Katakhali village.

Quoting local people journalist Hedayetul Islam said a cement-bound truck ran over Tithi at Katakhali crossing this morning when she was going to school, leaving her dead on the scene.

Ashashuni Police Station OC Biplob Kumar Devnath said angered by the accident, locals vandalised the truck and beat up its driver Nur Amin and assistant Munna.

Later, they were taken to a local hospital.

Additional police force have been deployed to avert any untoward situation.
