Separate incidents kill 2 students in Tongi

A schoolboy was killed as miscreants stabbed him in Kha Para area of Tongi while a madrasa student died after falling down from the rooftop of a seven-storey building at Tongi’s Modhumita Road, police and hospital sources said today.

“Few classmates stabbed Ferdous Ahmed, 14, a student of class-IX of Satain High School, with sharp weapon following an altercation over sitting at a function in Kha Para area of Tongi last night . . . later, he succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in the early hours of today,” told officer-in-charge (OC) of Tongi Model Police Station M Feroz Talukder.

Talukder also said, “Fourteen-year old Maria Akhter died falling down from a seven-storey residential building at the house of Shahjalal Talukder of Modhumita Road in Tongi while playing with her other two sisters last evening.”

Maria, a class eight student of Iqra Madrasa of Tongi, died on the spot, the police added.

Police handed over the body to deceased’s guardians after legal formalities.
