Spanish delegation calls on DU VC

An eight-member Spanish delegation paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman today at the latter’s office.

Prof. Maria Josefa Martinez Lopez, Head of Inditex Chair of Spanish Language and Culture led the delegation. Other members of the delegation are Prof. Santiago Fernandez Mosquera, Prof. Amparo Porta Rivas, Prof. Ana D. Tarrio, Elena Roca Moro, Javier Torres, Maria A Villarino and Carlos Garcia, said a DU press release.

During the meeting they stressed the need for strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic, research and cultural exchange programmes being conducted by the University of Dhaka and various universities in Spain.

DU VC Akhtaruzzaman thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and cultural activities.

The Spanish team is now on a visit to Bangladesh to attend a two-day long seminar on ‘Sports and Society in Current Spain’. This seminar has begun today at the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of DU.
