Police arrested a school teacher on charge of harassing a female student at Akhaura on Tuesday afternoon. The accused teacher is Samsul Alam Palash, 48, English teacher of Devagram Government High School.
Local people said the teacher allegedly touched a female student inappropriately while he was taking English class at Class VII.
The victim told her guardian about the matter. Later, angered people went to the school and confined him in the teachers’ room. Being informed, police detained the teacher.
Palash often touched female students inappropriately, several students alleged.
Akhaura police officer-in-charge Md Rasul Ahmed Nijami said police arrested accused teacher Palash on a written a complaint. ‘We will take necessary actions in this regard,’ he added.
